After the arrest of Abdul Ahad Choudhury, primary accused and show-runner of Barak coal syndicate, the Police had recovered his personal diary during a search at his residence. Pages of his diary has revealed shocking information of alleged involvement of politicians, and top administrative and police officials in the syndicate.

Writings in his diary have revealed that an amount of Rs 30 lakh was being allegedly sent to Guwahati every month; Rs 70 lakh was allotted to SP, Silchar, Rs 80 lakh to DIG, five lakh rupees to SP, Karimganj, six lakhs rupees to SP, Hailakandi and two lakh rupees to Karimganj DC.

The names of three MLAs have also surfaced on the list. The diary has information of financial transactions with as many as 17 high profile politicians and officials.

In latest updates, the Assam Government has taken the decision to hand over the case to CBI, informed an official of the CMO. The government has requested the CBI to take over the case.

Officials from Meghalaya are also allegedly involved in the syndicate.
