After Meghalaya and Nagaland, Mizoram government has taken a stand against the Citizenship Amendment Bill.

The Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla led cabinet not only has opposed the proposed Bill but has also decided to formally take measures against it.

It is noteworthy that at a time when BJP is in support of granting citizenship to Hindu Bangladeshis, Mizoram's BJP Pradesh Samiti has stood in support of their land and people.

It may be noted here that, at a time when in Assam, BJP is portraying a dual stand and its ally AGP is raising their voice sitting in their offices; simultaneously Meghalaya and Nagaland has expressed its stand against the proposed Bill firmly.

This move of the Mizoram government has made it clear that for them, their regional interest is greater than their party interest.

Thanhawla has informed that the cabinet's decision has already been conveyed to the Union home Minister Rajnath Singh.

The Mizoram government has opposed the Citizenship Amendment Bill as it poses a threat to the community and also because if the Bill is passed, then the Chakmas, who had migrated in Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh illegally, will be declared Indian Citizens.
