Yeddyurappa steps down before trust vote

Pratidin Bureau

A week of nail bitting situation for the race of 'Who will be the next Chief Minister of Karnataka?', without depending on trust votes, BS Yeddyurappa has resigned from the designation of CM, in which he had been elected a few days ago.

The live telecast from Karnataka Assembly made it possible for everyone to witness the emotional speech which was followed by Yeddyurappa's resignation. With a heavy heart, he said, "I will not face trust vote.. I will resign".

With his resignation letter to Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala, HD Kumaraswamy led JD (S) and Congress coalition government made way to the centre.

The end of BJP's 55 hour regime has resulted in a major blow to the party in the forthcoming 2019 General elections. With this resignation, BJP's dream of turning out victorious in the Southern region can also be seen as doubtful.
