Asian games 2018 Update: Hima led India takes 4×400 Gold

Pratidin Bureau

Assam's golden Girl Hima Das participating in the women's 4x400m relay along with her team has led India to stand on the 1st step of the podium.

India is stunned by putting Hima on the lead instead of anchor and thus by taking a 30 metre gap in the first and by the end of the third leg, the gap was so big that even for  golden girl Salwa Naser it was hard to close the gap.

It was India's fifth Gold medal in this category at a row, which was started by great PT Usha. Bahrain and Vietnam came second and third spot.

After winning the Silver Medal at the mixed 4x400m relay event in the 18th Asian games, India had high hopes of clinching the Gold at the Women's 4x400m relay event and the team proved it right.

The team consisted of Hima Das, MR Poovamma, Saritaben Gayakwad and Vismaya Koroth.

It may be noted that the win is a boost to Hima as various speculations making rounds around her disqualification at the 200m track event had reportedly taken her morale down.
