Assam’s struggle continues as Services take lead – Day 2 Report

Pratidin Bureau

Starting the day at 190-7, Assam could not add a lot to their overnight score as they bundled out for 211 in the 1st innings of the Elite Group C encounter of Ranji Trophy 2018-19 against Services being held at the Palam A ground in New Delhi. In reply, at the end of 2nd day's play, Services are at 213-2 in their first innings and have already taken a lead.

The day did not start on a high for the Assam batsmen as the skipper Amit Sinha was dismissed early in the day. For Services, Sachidanand Pandey picked up 5 wickets and did most of the damage. However, Services too did not have a great start as Ranjit Mali picked up 2 quick wickets to put Services in a spot of bother at 8-2. However, it all went downhill for Assam from there as Navneet Singh (79*) and Rajat Paliwal (104*) played gloriously throughout the rest of the day to take Services to a very strong position.
