Australia beat India by 4 runs in first T-20

Pratidin Bureau

India lost to Australia by 4 runs, in the first Twenty-20 International of the three-match series at Brisbane Wednesday. India scored 169 for 7 in the 17 overs against the target of 174 runs under Duck worth Lewis Method as match got delayed due to rain.

Earlier Australia scored 158 for 4 in 17 overs as India won the toss and elected to bowl. After the T20 series, the two sides will play four Tests and three ODIs.

Shikhar Dhawan's 42-ball 76 and sizzling cameos from Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik almost helped India gun down 174 off 17 overs in the rain-curtailed first T20I. Australia had scored only 158 off their 17 overs but the hour-long rain break meant India had to chase a steeper target after DLS adjustment.
