England beat South Africa in World Cup 2019 opener

Host England defeated South Africa by 104 runs in theopening match of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 on Thursday at Kennington Oval inLondon.

With Ben Stokes' 89, England scored 311 for 8 in their 50 overs, while South Arfica were dismissed for 207 in 39.5 over, with Jofra Archer claiming 3 wickets.

It may be mentioned here that both England and South Africa have never won the World Cup. Host England is the number-one team in ODI rankings and tournament favourites, while South Africa is ranked third after India.
