I-League : Shillong Lajong stun Churchill Brothers

Pratidin Bureau

Churchill Brothers' I-League title aspirations were dealt with a major blow on Tuesday with Shillong Lajong outclassing them 3-2 at Shillong on Wednesday evening. Samuel Kynshi's brace(36′ and 45′) had put the hosts ahead at the half time, however the Red Machines from Goa hit back with Willis Plaza(53′) and Anthony Wolfe (71′) levelling matters for the visitors. However, a late goal by Mahesh Singh (83′) broke Churchill hearts as Shillong swept home all three points.

Rakesh Pradhan was seen making his comeback from injury for the Meghalayan outfit with Kynsailang Khongsit giving way while Mahesh Singh replaced Lalawmpuia Hnamte in the starting XI. Lajong still remain at the bottom of the table with 10 points from 15 games, but are just 2 points behind Gokulam from the same number of games.
