IAAF makes modifications in its schedule for World Athletics Championships 2019

Pratidin Bureau

The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) announced on Saturday that it will dismiss morning sessions at the World Athletics Championships 2019 in Doha.

A mixed 4×400 metres relay and a midnight marathon event will be introduced. Race walking events are scheduled to start at 11.30 pm (IST) as part of a big shake-up of the traditional scheduling for the championships.

This schedule will prevail from September 28 to October 6 when temperatures in the Gulf state remain very hot and humid. The decathlon and heptathlon will be run concurrently.

This will be the first for the world championships. Their respective event-ending 1500m and 800m finals will both start after midnight.
