Pratidin Bureau

Assam failed to steady the sinking ship on the fourth and final day of the Col. CK Nayudu Tournament against Madhya Pradesh in Silchar yesterday.

Struggling at 60/4 at the close of play on Day 3, Assam batters tried to stretch the play till lunch as defeat was inevitable for the home side.

Biplab Saikia (70 off 120 balls) tried to stitch a partnership of some sort with tailender Nipam Deka (44). Assam skipper Abhisekh Thakuri admitted to falling in the traps of opposition spinners as the wicket started turning from Day 2 at the Satindra Mohan Dev Cricket Stadium. MP's Rajarshi Srivastava scapled 6/76 in Assam's second innings.
