Assam's Ashmita Chaliha will face off top seed PV Sindhu in Women Singles Semis at the 83rd Senior National Badminton Championship at Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phookan Indoor Stadium today. The local sensation Ashmita played exceptionally well to secure a 16-21, 21-17, 21-19 win over Aakarshi Kashyap to make her way to the semis.
Top seed Sindhu had an easy outing as she defeated Riya Mookerjee 21-16, 21-7 to progress to the semis on Thursday.
Ashmita Chaliha currently ranks 179 while PV Sindhu stands tall at no 6 in the ranking.
Chaliha gave a glimpse in the array of strokes she possess as she won numerous points on flicks from the net and down the line smashes to set up a semi-final clash against Sindhu.
