Virat Kohli led RCB knocked out of IPL 2018 by RR

Pratidin Bureau

In a must win match for the Virat Kohli led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Rajasthan Royals (RR) did not play the perfect host as RCB were sent packing out of this season's IPL.

In the 51st match of the tournament, RR handed RCB a 30-run defeat to move to the fourth position in the points table and keep their hopes alive of making it to the playoffs.

Winning the toss and deciding to bat first, RR notched up 164 in the allotted 20 overs for the loss of 5 wickets, thanks to brilliant 58-ball 80 by opener Rahul Tripathi.

Chasing at required run rate of just over 8 runs per over, RCB had a horrific start as they lost Virat Kohli in the third over. However, Parthiv Patel and AB De Villiers did steady the run chase but once they got out, the other batsmen fell like a house of cards. Shreyas Gopal ran riot with 4 wickets conceding only 16 runs from his quota of 4 overs.

Shreyas Gopal was adjudged the Man of the Match for his brilliant bowling performance.
