World Badminton Championships: PV Sindhu sets up semi-final clash with Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi today

Ace Indian shuttler and Olympic silver medalist PV Sindhu will take on world number two Akane Yamaguchi of Japan in the semi-finals of the World Badminton Championships at Nanjing, China today.

In the quarterfinal last night, world number three PV Sindhu defeated eighth seed Nozomi Okuhara of Japan, in straight games, 21-17, 21-19.

Sindhu is the only Indian left in the tournament. Saina Nehwal and the Mixed Doubles pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy bowed out in the quarterfinals yesterday.
