India Fighting New Wave With Great Success: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ address on Sunday said that India was fighting the new wave of Covid-19 with “great success”.

He said that people’s trust on indigenous vaccines was “our strength”.

In his monthly radio broadcast, PM Modi said, “Covid-19 cases have also started decreasing, which is a positive sign."

It was a matter of pride that till now about 4.5 crore children have been administered with the first dose, he added.

The PM said, “About 60 per cent of youths in the age group of 15 to 18 years have been vaccinated within three to four weeks. This will not only protect them, but will also help them to continue with their studies”.

“The trust that people have placed on the indigenous vaccines is our greatest strength," he said.

One crore people in the country have also received the booster done within the past 20 days.

Modi also appealed to the people to take all precautions to remain safe so that the pace of economic activitie in the country can be maintained.

The PM also congratulated citizens for achieving the “momentous feat” of full vaccination of 75 per cent of all adult population against Covid-19.

He said that he was proud of all those who have made the vaccination drive a success.

He tweeted, “Proud of all those who are making our vaccination drive a success”, while tagging a tweet by Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya in which he mentioned that India had achieved its goal of vaccinating 75 percent adult population against Covid-19.
