Netherland shooting: Several people wounded

Several people were injured in a shooting in the Dutch city of Utrecht, police have said. According to local journalists on the scene, witnesses reported a man in a tram on the way to Utrecht CS pulling out a weapon and shooting several people. An anti-terror unit and emergency services have been sent to the scene around the 24 Oktoberplein junction, where a square at a tram station has been cordoned off.

Three helicopters were despatched to the area after the shooting, which took place at about 10.45 local time (09:45 GMT).

Police appealed to the public to stay away to allow first responders to do their work.
