In a major crackdown on illegal gambling, Guwahati police apprehended at least 16 individuals from a house in the Lalganesh area late Monday night.
According to the police, the raid uncovered an ongoing gambling operation where the suspects were reportedly playing 'Jhandi Munda', a popular betting game. Gambling materials were also seized during the operation.
The arrested individuals include:

2. Durlabh Konwar, 23, Lichubagan Tiniali, Hengeabari
3. Sanjib Das, 25, Eidgah Path, Hatigaon
4. Utpal Das, 24, Milan Path, Lichubagan, Hengeabari
5. Rajesh Singh, 23, Nizarapar, Borbari
6. Adwart Pegu, 26, JP Wine Shop Colony, Borbari
7. Rinku Baishya, 41, Nandangiri Path, Borbari
8. Kanak Boro, 29, Near Pratiksha Hospital, Borbari, Hengeabari
9. Amiya Hajong, 27, Back Side of Assam Kitchen, Borbari
10. Biju Rajbanshi, 34, Borbari
11. Pappu Kalita, 28, Kanchan Nagar, Borbari
12. Pranab Deka, 28, Kanchan Nagar, Borbari
13. Imran Hussain, 26, Near Bageshwari Mandir
14. Angrag Das, 27, Near Bageshwari Mandir
15. Chandan Nath, 27, B/L- SBI, Near Bageshwari Mandir
16. Pranab Deka, 32, Supermarket, B/L-01, Borbari
17. Uttam Phukon, 32, Krishna Nagar
All necessary legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused under the relevant sections of the law. Police have urged citizens to report any illegal gambling activities in their areas.
