Kamrup Launches Crop Insurance Week with District-Wide Campaign
As part of the state-wide observance of Crop Insurance Week, the Kamrup District Agriculture Department launched an awareness campaign vehicle today at a special flag-off event in Amingaon. The campaign, running from July 1 to July 7, aims to raise awareness among farmers about the importance of insuring their crops.
The awareness vehicle was flagged off by Kamrup Deputy Commissioner Dev Kumar Mishra. Speaking on the occasion, Mishra emphasised the district administration’s commitment to keeping farmers informed about crop insurance throughout the year.
According to Kamrup District Agriculture Officer Manab Jyoti Das, the campaign vehicle will travel across every panchayat in the district to spread awareness about the benefits and procedures of crop insurance under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY).
Following the flag-off, an awareness meeting was held at the Agriculture Knowledge Centre in Dadara. The event was graced by the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup, Munmi Kalita, who felicitated five model farmers from the region and distributed sprayers to support their agricultural activities.
The meeting was organised by Agriculture Development Officer Bhaswati Sharma and was attended by Sudeshna Dasgupta, National Head of Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Company, Kamrup District Agriculture Officer Manab Jyoti Das, Assistant Director of Agriculture Hitesh Bezbaruah, and Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officers Jyoti Prasad Das and Durlabh Das. Also present were Kumud Choudhury, Nodal Officer of PMFBY and Senior Agricultural Development Officer, along with several other officials, agriculture extension officers, and local farmers.
Throughout the week, awareness meetings will be conducted across the Kamrup district to encourage farmers to avail the benefits of crop insurance and safeguard their livelihoods.
