Sarbananda Sonowal Pays Tribute to Zubeen Garg, Demands Strict Action

Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal attended the Adyashradha (first death anniversary rites) of beloved artist Zubeen Garg at the singer’s residence in Guwahati, offering his heartfelt tribute and praying for the eternal peace of the departed soul.

Sonowal also met Zubeen Garg’s grieving family, sharing in their sorrow and extending deep condolences.

“Our beloved artist Zubeen Garg still feels as if he is among us. The nation will never forget his contributions,” Sonowal said. “He shone brightly in the global music arena, and today the world recognizes his immense talent.”

Recalling Zubeen’s humility and personal warmth, Sonowal added, “He was very down-to-earth and always addressed me as ‘Sarba da.’ His sincerity and dedication to his work were evident to everyone across all walks of life.”

“Although Zubeen has physically departed from us, his immortal creations will continue to live in the hearts of the people of Assam. His cultural journey remains a source of inspiration and courage for countless admirers,” Sonowal said.

“Zubeen will always remain in our hearts. His creations will live forever. I pray to God for his eternal peace and well-being wherever he is,” he added.

Highlighting Zubeen’s values, Sonowal said, “He embodied ideals of humanity and integrity.” He concluded by urging authorities for a thorough investigation, calling for strict action against those responsible: “Let a strong investigation be conducted, and the guilty must be punished.”

Meanwhile, Garima Saikia Garg shared that the family has commenced the 11-day Adyashradha rituals at their residence.

She informed that a 13-day Mangalik ceremony will also be held in Jorhat, starting from the morning of October 1. Several members of the family will be traveling from Guwahati to Jorhat to participate in the ceremonies.

Garima Saikia Garg has appealed to the public for cooperation and support during the events and requested that arrangements be made for those who wish to pay their respects to the family and offer their tributes.
