Union Health Min To Launch Song Celebrating 100 Cr Covid Vaccine Doses

Pratidin Bureau

Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya on Thursday will launch a song and an audio-visual film to celebrate the milestone of administering 100 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses.

As per an official release, Union Minister Mandaviya will launch a song and an audio-visual film at Red Fort in the national capital. As per an official release, 99.12 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.

India began its vaccination drive against the deadly contagion – coronavirus on January 16, 2021.

However, it should also be mentioned that as per a Bloomberg report published earlier this week read, "While it is likely to hit the billion-doses mark this week, the country has only given two shots to 20 per cent of its population of about 1.4 billion, according Bloomberg's vaccine tracker. By comparison, 51 per cent have had a single dose, making it one of the highest disparities in the world, the tracker shows".

"Also skewing the statistics is the fact that India is yet to deploy any vaccines for those under 18, some 40 per cent of India's population," the report added.
