1 IR Bn Jawan Arrested Over Bomb Explosion In Hailakandi

Following an explosion near Bhaicherra BOP under Ramnathpur Police Station on Friday night, tensions flare up again in the Assam Mizoram border areas.

According to report, as per the preliminary investigation, Mizo miscreants carried out the explosion using a cordtex and gelatin sticks.

The Cachar police arrested one Mizo 1st IR Bn jawan identified as Laldin Twanga on suspicion of involvement in the blast incident.

Hailakandi Superintendent of police Gaurav Upadhyay said while speaking to the media, "At around 1.30 am we received information that some Mizo miscreants carried out a low-intensity blast using cordtex and gelatin sticks at the foothills of Bhaicherra BOP in Kachurthal area. Immediately, the senior police officers along with the force reached the spot. During the preliminary investigation, it was found that one Mizo IRBN jawan was suspiciously moving near the site. We detained him and accordingly interrogated him in the spot. He couldn't provide us any satisfactory reply, thus, we arrested him and forwarded him to judicial custody."
