Assam Government Committed To Improving Healthcare

Taking part in an AIR talk show on Monday night in Guwahati, Minister of State Pijush Hazarika informed that it is committed to improve the healthcare facilities in Assam and will be undertaking various measures for the welfare of people in health sector.

He informed that the health department would provide accidental insurance coverage of upto Rs 2 lakh to the Atal Amrit Abhiyan card holders.

He further said that the same facilities would be given to ICU patients as well.

It may be mentioned here that Atal Amrit Abhiyan is an ambitious scheme being implemented in Assam providing government help in the treatment of certain ailments.

"Various steps are being taken in the tea and char areas to reduce the Infant Mortality Rate and Maternal Mortality Ration," minister Hazarika further said.

He also informed that several new medical colleges are being set up to ease the problem of shortage of doctors.

Minister Hazarika also informed that the upcoming International Yoga Day will be celebrated in Assam in a grand manner and programmes will be held up to block level.
