Mahanta Fires Salvo At Sonowal Government

Pratidin Bureau

Launching a scathing attack on the Sarbanada Sonowal-led state government in Assam, former state CM Prafulla Kumar Mahanta said that the government is maintaining a double standard while addressing the flood situation of the state.

"If the government has enough flood relief fund, then why is it seeking donations from the public?" Mahanta questioned while addressing the media in Guwahati on Friday.

He was talking to media right after returning from New Delhi.

The former Chief Minister called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah and appraised him about the prevailing flood situations of the state.

"When there was a flood in Kerala, the state received relief funds in abundance. The Central fund that Assam has received is much lower than what Kerala received. If someone is to be blamed for this low Central fund, then it has to be the Sonowal-led state government," Mahanta further added.
