The Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption in Assam apprehended Gurupad Das, Senior Assistant at the Office of the Superintendent of Food & Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs in Bokajan, District Karbi Anglong.

As per information, Gurupad Das had demanded Rs 7,000 as bribe from teh complainant for renewal of license of his fair price PDS shop. He had also demanded Rs 2,500 as bribe for forwarding report of his shop to the  Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC).

Das was caught red-handed within the premises of his office as he accepted the demanded bribe money of Rs 2,500 from a complainant.

Finding sufficient evidence against the above-mentioned public servant, he has been arrested in connection to the case.

This incident underscores the ongoing efforts to combat corruption within government institutions in the region.
