Parliament session likely to be extended by 10 days

The Union government is considering to extend the ongoing Parliament session by 10 days.

According to reports, during a meeting of BJP parliamentary party on Tuesday, BJP president Amit Shah, also the home minister told BJP MPs that the session can be extended so that the government's legislative agenda could be completed.

After the meeting, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshisaid, "There is a possibility of this. You will be officially conveyedwhen a decision is taken."

As per sources, it can be extended by 10 days. The sources addedthat a final decision is yet to be taken. The session, which started on June17, is scheduled to end on July 26.

Meanwhile, opposition parties have reportedly objected the idea of the extended parliament session. Congress' chief whip in Lok Sabha K Suresh said his party is "strongly against" any extension. However, whether to extend the session or not is the government's prerogative.
