'Will Form Govt In All Five States,' Says Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge

Pratidin Time

Ahead of the assembly elections in five states, Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday exuded confidence that the grand old party will form the government in all the five states.

Kharge was quoted by ANI saying, “The five state elections’ work is going on well. We are confident that we will win all five states. There is anti-incumbency for BJP. People are annoyed due to inflation & unemployment. BJP did not meet any of its promises. Ashok Gehlot and Bhupesh Baghel are doing good work in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. There are no issues there. There are problems in MP due to Shivraj Singh Chouhan. People are against him. So, we expect to bring our government in all the five states and everything will be fine.”

Further, when asked whether the 5-state elections will be a semi-final of the 2024 General elections, Kharge said, “No that is not the case. Every state has different election issues, voting is done as per those. Parliament elections are different from Assembly elections. PM Modi calls every election a poll to elect him- Municipal elections, Assembly elections. Is he himself going to become the CM? So, people vote for local leaders, who worked and resolved their issues.”

It may be mentioned that assembly elections are scheduled to be held in single or two phases in all five states including Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Mizoram in November.

The elections will be held on the following dates in the five states:

  • Mizoram- November 7

  • Chhattisgarh- November 7 and 17

  • Madhya Pradesh- November 17

  • Rajasthan- November 25

  • Telangana- November 30

Meanwhile, the counting of votes for all five states will take place on December 3.
