According to sources, Ipshita's mother is likely to be interrogated soon as part of the ongoing investigation. The police had earlier come under public criticism for delaying the registration of the case, despite growing outrage over the circumstances surrounding Ipshita's death.

Further investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the incident and whether there was any abetment to suicide.

Earlier, the tragic incident had taken a political turn after Ipsita Das’s name was linked to a BJP youth leader, identified as Chintu Kalita. The two were reportedly in a romantic relationship that had lasted for about a year.

Ipshita's family had made serious allegations against Chintu, prompting him to issue a public response. According to Chintu, he and Ipshita had a 20-minute phone conversation on the night of the incident. She had also reportedly sent him four messages early in the morning, the last one reading, “I’m sorry.” Chintu claimed he only saw the messages the next morning after a mutual friend informed him of her death.

Sources revealed that Ipshita had named two women in her suicide note, but had not mentioned Chintu. In his defence, Chintu denied any physical or mental abuse, stating, “I never subjected her to any form of torture.”

He also claimed that Ipshita’s home environment had been disturbed due to family issues and alleged that her mother would often cause mental distress after consuming alcohol.

“This is not about the BJP or Congress. If I was guilty, let the law take its course. But I am suffering too,” Chintu told reporters, denying all allegations made against him.
