BREAKING: Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar Resigns Citing Health Reasons

Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar has tendered his resignation from his post, citing health concerns and the need to follow medical advice. In a letter addressed to President Droupadi Murmu on Monday, the Vice President invoked Article 67(a) of the Constitution to step down from the post.

“To prioritise health care and abide by medical advice, I hereby resign as the Vice President of India, effective immediately,” Dhankhar stated in the letter.

Expressing heartfelt gratitude to the President, he said, “I extend my deepest gratitude to Your Excellency the Hon’ble President of India for her unwavering support and the soothing wonderful working relationship we maintained during my tenure.”

He also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Cabinet for their guidance and cooperation. “I express my deep gratitude to the Hon'ble Prime Minister and esteemed Council of Ministers. Prime Minister's cooperation and support have been invaluable, and I have learned much during my time in office,” he noted.

Reflecting on his tenure, the outgoing Vice President shared his appreciation for Members of Parliament. He called his time in office a “privilege” and highlighted the nation’s progress during the period. “It has been a privilege and satisfaction to witness and partake in India's remarkable economic progress and unprecedented exponential development during this significant period.”

“As I leave this esteemed office, I am filled with pride in Bharat's global rise and phenomenal achievements and hold unwavering confidence in her brilliant future,” Dhankhar's letter concluded.

The resignation marks the end of Jagdeep Dhankhar's tenure as the 14th Vice President of India, during which he also served as Chairman of the Rajya Sabha.
