As the violence-hit Manipur slowly returns to normalcy, Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Wednesday informed that financial assistance of Rs. 1,000 per head was disbursed to the displaced persons on October 24.

The financial aid was provided through the Deputy Commissioners of the respective districts to the displaced persons residing at the relief camps.

The chief minister said that these payments were aimed at providing the displaced people some assistance to purchase clothing and personal belongings as winter approached in the state.

Taking to X, he wrote, “A total of Rs. 6.138 crores has been released to DCs which will be utilized for providing the assistance to 61,387 persons presently living in relief camps in the State. The State Government will continue to provide assistance to everyone affected irrespective of the communities they belong to.”

Earlier on Tuesday, the chief minister asserted that normalcy would return to the state and peace would be resorted soon.

Speaking to media persons in Imphal earlier in the day, Biren Singh said, “Peace will be restored, people will be happy.”

CM Singh also laid the foundation stone of several development projects in Imphal.
